Will the streets of Toronto in 2050 be filled only with self-driving cars? Engineers and car manufacturers are working on this, even if there are still many technical, financial and political obstacles to be overcome.
The Canadian Automobile Association (CAA) warns on its website that experts estimate that fully autonomous vehicles will not be available to us on public roads until at least 2040.
At the University of Toronto, a team of students has been participating since 2016 in competitions organized by the American manufacturer GM and SAE, an international organization that sets standards for autonomous vehicles.
